Honor has unveiled that the Honor Band 6 – a fitness tracker that released in China back in November 2020 – will be coming to international markets.
Following the Honor Band 5, this is an affordable wearable with 10 workout modes and a decent battery life of 14 days under typical usage. Whilst we don’t have confirmed UK pricing, there’s an approximate figure of US$35, which is around £25 – similar pricing to the Band 5.
The strap of the band comes in a choice of three colours – black, grey and pink – which is paired with a large 1.47in AMOLED touchscreen rectangular display with a resolution of 194×364 pixels at 282 PPI. The size of this display is competitive in comparison to other affordable fitness trackers, and the large screen makes it a more ‘everyday’ design to wear.
This may be a budget fitness tracker, but there’s enough features on here to get you by. You get the standard heartrate monitor (supported by TruSeen 4.0), SpO2 monitoring, sleep monitoring and stress monitoring. The device also boasts 5 ATM water resistance, should you be a keen swimmer.
The built-in exercise modes on the watch include outdoor running, indoor running, outdoor cycling, indoor cycling, pool swimming, open water swimming, elliptical training, rower training, indoor walking and free training.
The watch monitors your heartrate, the number of calories burnt, the distance travelled and the average pace. Like previous bands, the Honor Band 6 records all of this data in the accompanying Huawei Health app.
There are always compromises with budget fitness trackers. For the Honor Band 6, its the lack of GPS and NFC. The band connects to your smartphone via a Bluetooth connection only.
This is pretty standard on inexpensive wearables, and if you do want map recordings of your workouts, you’ll have to fork out a bit more for your fitness tracker. However, if all you need is the core basics, then Honor has a good track of providing the essentials at an affordable price point.
There is currently no confirmed release date for the Honor Band 6 in global markets, just that it will be released ‘soon’. You’ll likely be able to purchase it directly from the Honor website.
